EZconn, a specialist in RF connectors and fiber optical devices, has said it expects its shipment momentum to stretch into the second half of 2021, having experienced robust sales for the first five months of 2021.
It has seen a rebound in orders for 10G PON devices from clients in the US and Europe, thanks to an easing of pandemic control measures and the rollouts of infrastructure projects in these markets, EZconn said.
It said it shipped over NT$100 million (US$3.6 million) worth of optical devices for datacenter applications to clients in the US and Taiwan in first-quarter 2021 and will ship a comparable amount in the second quarter.
Overall, the company projects to ship 150 million RF connectors and 34.63 million optical communication devices in 2021.
EZconn's May revenues came to NT$254 million, up 4.49% sequentially and 37.7% on year. For January-May, revenues totaled NT$1.187 billion, increasing 23.5% from a year earlier.
It also reported net profit of NT$14 million for the first quarter of 2021, its first quarterly profit in two years.
Gross margin improved to 19.5% in the first quarter and is poised to hike further in the second half of the year due to improved product mix, EZconn said.
