A four-lane bridge parallel to JP Setu between Digha to Saran and Sonpur to be constructed.
The Center has agreed on the construction of a new four-lane bridge parallel to JP Setu between Digha to Saran and Sonpur on the border of Vaishali district in Patna. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State BK Singh met Bihar`s Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen in Delhi on Tuesday.
In the meeting, along with a new bridge parallel to JP Setu, many other plans were agreed upon. This will be the fourth bridge to be built on the Ganga in Patna city.
Rail cum road bridge near Digha in Patna connects Sonpur. Apart from this, the Mahatma Gandhi Setu between Patna and Hajipur is already operational and is being repaired. The work of building a new four-lane bridge has also started near Gandhi Setu.
It was decided in the meeting that the Central Government would soon notify the road going from Patna to Sahebganj via Kesariya to Areraj as a new NH. The connectivity of Patna AIIMS with four lanes to be built parallel to JP Setu will be from this bridge.
It was also agreed that the construction work should be started soon by NHAI by making a separate tender for the construction of road in four km length from Bihta to Koilwar.
It was also decided in the meeting held with Nitin Gadkari that the tender for Amas-Darbhanga Expressway would be issued soon.
189 km long road is to be built between Amas to Darbhanga. For this, the work of land acquisition has reached the final stage. With the release of its tender, the construction work on it can start after the monsoon.
It was agreed to explore a suitable alternative to develop a 2.8 km road between Saristabad to Nathopur as part of Patna-Gaya road. The progress of the bridge being built between Mokama`s Aonta to Simaria was also reviewed.
The construction work is affected due to some changes in the work of the southern side of the bridge. Nitin Naveen raised the issue of poor maintenance of NH-107 Maheshkhunt-Saharsa-Madhepura-Purnia road before Gadkari. Gadkari asked NHAI to take a decision in this regard.
