NAMRUP, June 22: Borhat police arrested a fraud electricity bill collector on Monday with the help of locals.

According to the information received from Borhat police station, “The fraud electricity bill collector named Durlav Khanikar, a resident of Sasoni Amguri under Naharkatiya police station in Dibrugarh, on June 18 started looting consumer in the same style done in Charaideo Borhat Dangorikumar area.”

It is to be noted that this fraud Khanikar looted consumers from Borhat, Namrup, Joypore, Sasoni and Bordobi by luring them with offers by APDCL like electric motor, fan, etc.

From Borhat Dangorikoma miscreants looted Rs 2,700 and Rs 2,500 from two consumers namely Tulu Prasad Sarmah and Sonadhar Das respectively by providing them with fake electricity bills.

Later, while adopting similar tactics, a section of local conscious youth of the area caught the fraud, thrashed him and handed over to Borhat police station. The fraudster was sent to jail on Tuesday on the basis of a report under IPC Section of 419/420/406 and registered under Borhat police station case number 16/21.
