Remembering late actor Amrish Puri on his birth anniversary, he wasn’t the first choice for Mr India’s ‘Mogambo’ role

On the birth anniversary of the late actor, Amrish Puri let’s recall his most famous role still known in the Indian cinema, ‘Mogambo.’

The demise of late actor Amrish Puri had left Bollywood heartbroken. He had worked in more than 450 films and has won many hearts with his outstanding performance and unique dialogue delivery. On June 22, his 89th birth anniversary let’s remember how he replaced Anupam Kher for the role of ‘Mogambo’ who was approached first for it.

In an old interview, Anupam Kher had shared that he was upset initially for losing the movie but later was delighted with the performance given by Amrish Puri in ‘Mr. India.’ The dialogue ‘Mogambo Khush Hua’ is still remembered and popular among the audience. Besides, Amrish Puri, the movie starred Anil Kapoor and late actress Sridevi in the lead.
