Just like the Nord N10 5G and N100, the latest N200 5G phone will only receive one major Android upgrade. This is reportedly confirmed by the company itself to 9to5Google tech publication. The phone currently runs Android 11 out-of-the-box, so we presume it will gain only Android 12 as one major OS upgrade.

Together with this, the company reportedly also said that the Nord N200 will receive three years of “maintenance” updates.

Well, it is pretty daunting to hear the new decision of the company, especially when it recently announced that after the merger with Oppo, the company will focus on delivering “faster and more stable software updates.”

Last year in November, OnePlus announced only one major software upgrade for the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100, which made the buyers unhappy about their decision. There have also been several reports of delays in updates in older OnePlus phones. OnePlus clearly seems to be lagging behind when every other major smartphone company is doing efforts at providing faster software upgrades. In fact, Samsung has pledged to offer three major OS updates to the majority of its phones, including devices from its affordable A-series and M-series. So, it’s unfortunate to see OnePlus’ treatment towards its affordable lineup.

After the announcement of its deeper integration with Oppo, an internal memo recently got leaked, revealing OnePlus will actually work as a brand under Oppo. This means OnePlus has become a sub-brand of Oppo. The move could mean several things but let's not reach unwarranted conclusions for now.
