GUWAHATI, June 21: For the implementation of SVAMITVA scheme in Assam, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Survey of India (SoI) and Assam government at the Janata Bhawan here on Monday.

The ministry of panchayati raj and state department of revenue & disaster management will implement the scheme with the support of panchayat & rural development department in the state.

Survey of India, as the technology partner will take steps for survey of inhabited rural abadi land by drone technology as well as establishment of ground based control stations so as to enable detailed spatial database of properties in rural areas. It is expected to reduce property related disputes and legal cases.

The SVAMITVA scheme was launched on pilot basis on April24, 2020 on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day and was rolled out across India on April 24 by the Prime Minister.

The MoU was signed between Shantanu P Gotmare, director of land records & surveys on behalf of Assam government and Ch. Venkateswara Rao, director, Assam & Nagaland, GDC, Survey of India on behalf of Survey of India in presence of MS Manivannam, commissioner & secretary to the state revenue & DM department.
