Draghi says EU Commission has approved Italy's Recovery Plan

ROME, June 22 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Mario Draghi said on Tuesday the European Commission had approved Italy's 191.5 billion euro ($228 billion) Recovery and Resilience Plan aimed at helping the economy bounce back from the pandemic.

"This is a day of pride for our country," Draghi said at a news conference in Rome with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Italy presented its plan at the end of April and has said it expects to receive the first installment of 25 billion euros from the EU fund by the end of July. ($1 = 0.8401 euros) (Reporting by Gavin Jones; Editing by Crispian Balmer)
