PSL 2021: Peshawar Zalmi fields with 10-men as umpires deny Mohammad Irfan’s substitute- In what comes a dramatic night in Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021), Peshawar Zalmi were reduced to 10-men against Islamabad United. The incident occurred after Mohammad Irfan left the field due to an injury. His substitute Haider Ali was asked to leave the field by the umpires who were not convinced that Mohd Irfan had sustained an injury, leaving Peshawar Zalmi short of a fielder.

In the match, Irfan went down after bowling the second last delivery of the 11th over. He got back up after a slight delay but fell back to the ground. He was taken out of the ground during the 12th over for treatment and Ali had come to replace him. However, Aleem Dar and Amad Butt who were on-field umpires did not allow him on the field, leading to a slight delay.

After a brief delay, Ali had to step out of the field and Zalmi were forced to bowl 14th and 15th over without Irfan or substitute fielder. Eventuall\y, they were allowed to use a substitute fielder after a conversation between Dar and Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz and senior batsman Shoaib Malik. Khalid Usman was allowed to take the field.

The umpires wanted Irfan’s injury to be genuine and only allowed the substitute after confirmation from the paramedics.
