Man, daughter drown as van plunges into tank in Tamil Nadu

KANYAKUMARI: A 55-year-old man and his 21-year-old daughter drowned after a van they were travelling in plunged into a water body at Kappiyarai in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
The man’s another daughter, aged 20, survived the accident.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident took place around 6am when Rajendran, 55, of Idathikalavilai and his daughters R Samini, 21, and R Shalini, 20, were travelling to a temple. Rajendran was driving the van. It is suspected that Rajendran could have dosed off or lost control of the vehicle.
Fire and rescue services personnel retrieved the bodies. The Karungal police registered a case.
