Amarnath Yatra is a 56-day long yatra to the 3,880-metre high cave shrine nestled in the South Kashmir Himalayas. This year more than six lakh pilgrims were expected to visit the Shrine through trekking the Pahalgam route in Anantnag district or the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The Yatra was scheduled between June 28 and August 22. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) will allow 10,000 people to the cave shrine every day on both routes from Pahalgam and Baltal.
