BHUBANESWAR: Allaying fear of students and parents, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Sunday clarified that all students will get marks as per merit.
CHSE controller of examination Bijay Kumar Sahoo said due to the alternative assessment, the pass percentage this year is likely to cross 90%. “The council has adopted the best possible evaluation criteria which is in the interest of students. The pass percentage of the Class XII board exam is most likely to be over 90% because of the marking system,” Sahoo said.
Students and parents expressed concern at getting marks less than expected as they would be marked on the basis of their Class X results. Sahoo added that most students get less number in Class XII than what they get in Class. “But this year will be an exception as students will get better marks than their Class X score,” Sahoo added.
Similarly, more repeat candidates are expected to clear the Class XII exam this year compared to previous year, Sahoo added.
As per the alternative assessment method, repeat candidates will be given marks on the basis of their performance in last year’s board exam. However, the CHSE is silent on the assessment of students who were absent.
