Negligence: A person was given two doses of covid vaccine in half an hour, incident in Mayurbhanj, Odisha

In Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a 51-year-old man was administered two doses of anti-Covid vaccine at an interval of 30 minutes.


Official sources said the person has been identified as Prasanna Kumar Sahu. He is a resident of Raghupur village. After booking a slot for the vaccine on Saturday, Sahu had gone to the makeshift vaccination center set up at the Satyasai Government High School in Khuntapur.

Sahu said that after the first dose, he was kept under observation for 30 minutes, during which a nurse accidentally gave him the second dose. Sahu said that 'I told about this but by then the nurse had given the vaccine.' Center supervisor Rajendra Behera told that he was asked to remain under observation for two more hours and ORS solution was given. The person was sitting at the vaccination site and not went to the observation room.

Behera said that she was given another dose by mistake. Betanati Community Health Center in-charge Dr. Sipun Panda said that he was aware of the complaint and the inquiry committee would look into the matter before taking any action against the person responsible.
