Trial to begin for ex-Covington Catholic basketball player Jacob Walter accused of rape
A former Covington Catholic High School basketball player accused of rape is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Jacob Walter, 19, son of Bengals great Joe Walter, has been charged with two counts of sodomy and one count of rape.
The trial is scheduled to last a week before Boone County Circuit Court Judge Richard A. Brueggemann.
The former CovCath basketball standout has been on house arrest at his parents' Burlington home awaiting trial.
An 18-year-old woman had reported the rape a few days prior to Walter's arrest in 2018, according to court documents.
The victim stated she was fearful of Walter, "due to his size, strength and aggressiveness," and told Walter that she did not want to have sex with him due to her not feeling well that day, Boone County officials said in a news release.
Authorities say on two occasions, Walter sodomized the victim while holding her down and pulling her hair, which resulted in physical injury. They say he dismissed the victim by laughing at her and telling her she would be fine.
