BJP spokesperson lists ills of previous Cong Govt

Imphal, June 20 2021: Joining the verbal duel between the Congress and the BJP, spokesperson of the saffron party, Wilubou Newmai today stated that instead of going ballistic against the BJP led Government, the Congress must learn to be a responsible Opposition during a National crisis.

Stating that the Congress must learn to place the Nation above politics, Newmai said from opposing lockdowns to demanding lockdowns, and urging to launch a free mass vaccination drive across the country to questioning vaccines, the Opposition is leaving no stone unturned in undermining India's battle against Covid-19.The Congress should stop fooling people about the fuel prices across the country.

Fuel prices hit a record high during Congress regime, he said and added that the Opposition must accept that people are angry with them (Congress).

The spokesperson also raised a series of allegations against the Congress and added that it was instrumental in creating disharmony between hills and valley.

The widest gap between the hills and valley was witnessed during Congress regime.

The previous Congress Government will be remembered for inaugurating incomplete projects all over Manipur, said Newmai and added that its attempt to inaugurate an incomplete project in Ukhrul was strongly opposed some time back.

Extra-judicial killings were also rampant during the Congress regime, said Newmai and listed the infamous cases of Thangjam Manorama Devi in 2004 and Sanjit in 2009 .

Cancellation of the selection tests of 2013 for recruiting 2000 Constables, bad shape of school and primary health centres in hill districts, failure to contain nefarious activities of armed groups operating in Manipur, pronounced division of Kukis, Nagas and Meiteis were all hallmarks of the then Congress Government, he alleged further.

Other than these blockades and bandhs were common during the Congress tenure both in the valley and in the hills, said the spokesperson and added that academic activities of educational institutions were often disrupted due to public unrest in one form or the other.
