Most wanted held in Kurukshetra, arms recovered

Chandigarh, Jun 21 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested a most-wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 from Kurukshetra district and recovered one country-made pistol and two cartridges from him.



Giving this information here Monday, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested has been identified as Amardeep alias Deepa, a resident of Mahabir Colony, Hisar. With his arrest, a potential crime has been averted.

Arrested offender, who is on the most-wanted list and carried a reward of Rs 25,000, was named in 31 cases pertaining to attempt to murder, kidnapping, extortion, illegal possession of land and under Arms Act registered in Kurukshetra, Hisar, Jind, Panipat and Fatehabad.

His arrest was pending in about 12 cases.

With 17, maximum cases against him were registered in Jind, followed by six in Kurukshetra, four in Hisar and two each in Panipat and Fatehabad.



A police team got a tip-off that a motorcyclist with an illegal pistol would come from Jhansa towards Kurukshetra town. Based on information, a police team set up a barricade and signalled a youth on bike to stop. On seeing the police team, the accused tried to escape by taking a sudden turn. Police arrested him and when searched, a country made pistol and two cartridges were recovered from him.
