Thread: Is monogamy friction toward progress?

Men have an instinct to be polygamous; women have an instinct to be hypergamous. What drove human evolution is the majority of women would pair up with men with most status. This means men who have the most intelligence, physical attributes, or aesthetics.

Societies implemented monogamy as was to make sure a surplus of man weren't rioting and looting. However, this was possible due to accessibility of men were limited due geographical friction and parental/familial gatekeeping. Now due to technology and liberalism, a plurality of women have access to high value men. As a result, we're are witness the decay of the institution of monogamy which has it's negatives, but women or a collective of women pairing with high-value successful men, who are wealthy, handsome, and/or intelligent might beneficial to human species in the long term.
