North Carolina's Armando Bacot pulls out of draft

North Carolina junior forward/center Armando Bacot said Monday he will return to Chapel Hill, delaying the NBA draft for another year.

The university also confirmed he'll be back with the Tar Heels for the 2021-22 season with a video posted to social media.

He said on April 6 that he was declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft but would consider playing another season at North Carolina, depending on the results of the pre-draft process.

The 6-foot-10 Bacot averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in 29 games (28 starts) in the 2020-21 season. He shot 62.8 percent from the field and blocked 26 shots.

Bacot will give new coach Hubert Davis a veteran big man in the lineup. Davis is replacing the legendary Roy Williams, who retired following last season.

Bacot has averages of 10.9 points and 8.0 rebounds in 61 games (60 starts) in two seasons with the Tar Heels.
