Manchester City has made a £100m bid to Tottenham for Harry Kane

Manchester City has bid an opening offer of £100million for Harry Kane as negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur begin. However, reports from London suggest that Spurs have rejected City’s opening offer.

The struggling England captain has failed to register a shot on target in the opening two group stage matches of the European Championship. Kane insists that the reason behind his poor form is not the uncertainty over his future.

Kane has publicly expressed his intentions to leave Tottenham Hotspur to win trophies elsewhere. He has identified the Etihad Stadium as a preferred destination with the bonus of playing Champions League football with Spurs set to play in the newly formed third tier of European football – UEFA Europa Conference League. But reports from England suggest that Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, is now determined to keep hold of his talisman.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola is in search of a first-choice striker after the departure of club legend Sergio Aguero to Barcelona on a free transfer. A rumoured bid of £100million has been made for the English striker along with players offered in a swap deal to Tottenham. The three players mentioned in this rumoured swap plus cash deal are Kane’s England teammate Raheem Sterling, alongside central defender Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus. But Levy and the Spurs board have rejected City’s opening offer for a player that they value in the region of £120 to £150 million.

Speaking about his future, Kane told Gary Neville last month: “I think so. I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club. Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments.”

“Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.”
