WTC final: Indian skipper Virat Kohli caught on stump mic sledging Kiwi opener Tom Latham

The Indian captain was caught sledging Blackcaps opener Tom Latham during the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Sunday. India batted first and got off to a bright start ending the second day of the contest in a comfortable position on 146 runs for three wickets down. Later, Kyle Jamieson led the pace attack by dismantling the Indian team on 217 runs during the second session of the third day.

While defending the low-par first innings total, Virat opted to start with the pacers. Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah took command of the attack and helped their team reduce the Blackcaps to 101 runs with the loss of two wickets before the end of the day. At the start of New Zealand’s innings, the Indian skipper made a deliberate attempt in Bumrah’s over to foil the concentration of Tom Latham, who was in the middle with Conway.

The captain said, “He got an idea Jas(Bumrah), you’re all over him buddy, you can take him up there as well, he knows he’s not getting it on the bat, boys.” On day 4, lunch break was taken without a ball being bowled after incessant rain held up proceedings. The ICC will have to use the reserve sixth day to make up for the lost time. If the match draws, both the teams will be declared as joint champions.
