The state-owned fuel retailers on Sunday yet again revised domestic fuel prices across the country. As per the notification from oil retailers, petrol and diesel prices have been hiked by up to 29 paise and 28 paise, respectively. With new prices coming into effect, two auto fuels have touched a new all-time high of ₹ 97.22 per litre and ₹ 87.97 per litre in Delhi. This is the 27th hike in fuel rates since May 4, 2021, making petrol and diesel costlier by ₹ 6.82 a litre and ₹ 7.24 a litre, respectively. In Mumbai, petrol has already breached ₹ 103 per litre mark, currently standing at ₹ 103.36 per litre, while diesel has touched ₹ 95.44 per litre.

Petrol retails above ₹ 108 per litre mark in Sri Ganganagar and Anuppur

Fuel prices are currently at record highs across the country. Other metro cities too witnessed a similar hike in fuel rates. In Kolkata, petrol is now priced at ₹ 97.12 per litre, while diesel costs ₹ 90.82 per litre. Prices of two auto fuels in Chennai now stand at ₹ 98.40 per litre and ₹ 92.58 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices in Bengaluru have reached ₹ 100.47 per litre and ₹ 93.26 per litre, respectively. Customers in Hyderabad will have to pay ₹ 101.04 a litre for petrol and ₹ 95.89 for diesel.
In Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district, petrol now retails at ₹ 108.37 a litre, while diesel is priced at ₹ 101.12 per litre. In Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, petrol and diesel have touched new highs of ₹ 107.64 a litre and ₹ 98.70 a litre. Petrol in Bhopal has jumped to ₹ 105.43 a litre, while diesel costs ₹ 96.65 a litre. In Anuppur, the fuel rates stood at ₹ 108.10 per litre and ₹ 99.04 per litre, respectively. Customers in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra will have to pay ₹ 105.70 a litre and ₹ 96.22 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively.

Fuel rates differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT).
Other regions where petrol have already crossed the ₹ 100 per litre mark include Nagpur, Thane, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Jaisalmer, Banswara, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Ratnagiri, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nashik, Kakinada, Shivamogga, Leh and Chikmagalur.
Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum are the three leading oil marketing companies. They revise domestic fuel prices with global benchmarks by taking into account alterations in the foreign exchange rates accordingly. The fuel rates vary from state to state in the country due to the value-added tax or VAT.
