Maroon Brimson to miss Titans' NRL match
Queensland are almost certain to retain Valentine Holmes as fullback for game two of State of Origin after AJ Brimson joined Kalyn Ponga on the injured list.
Brimson played in a utility role off the bench in Origin I in Townsville despite bone bruising on his knee and has failed to feature for Gold Coast in their two NRL matches since.
Despite being named earlier in the week for Sunday's game against Manly at CBUS Super Stadium, the Titans ruled Brimson out before the match as he continues to stuggle with his injury.
The failure to appear against the Sea Eagles is almost certain to rule Brimson out of Queensland's squad for game two, with Ben Hunt the hot tip to move into the No.14 jersey for the Maroons.
With Kalyn Ponga (groin) already ruled out, Maroons coach Paul Green is unlikely to shift Holmes to a wing spot with limited options for the No.1 jersey.
Hunt's return is expected to be one of several changes to Queensland's squad following their 50-6 humiliation in game one.
Canberra prop Josh Papalii will come straight into the front-row after missing game one with suspension, partnering Melbourne's Christian Welch either side of hooker Harry Grant.
Papalii's inclusion will create a headache for Green who can either move Tino Fa'asuamaleaui to the bench or back to his favoured No.13.
If Fa'asuamaleaui does shift to lock, South Sydney's Jai Arrow will either move to the backrow in place of either Felise Kaufusi or David Fifita with one of those three to take up an interchange spot.
Cameron Munster and captain Daly Cherry-Evans should form the halves pairing while the biggest question mark in the backline is whether Kurt Capewell stays at centre or is replaced by another option such as Parramatta's Tom Opacic or Cronulla veteran Will Chambers.
The Maroons team will for game two will be named on Monday morning.
