NEW DELHI: India continues to maintain a decline in the Covid-19 trend as the
country on Sunday reported less than 60,000 daily cases after 81 days.
India on Sunday reported 58,419 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The daily
Covid count in India remained below 1 lakh for the thirteenth day in a row.
The active cases in the country have further declined to 7,29,243. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate stands at 3.22%, which is less than 5% for 13 consecutive days.
The deaths also remained below 2,000 mark for the third day in a row. In the last 24 hours, the country reported a total of 1,576 deaths, bringing the total death toll to 3,86,713.
Here are the latest Covid-related developments across the nation:'Can't pay Rs 4 lakhs ex gratia amount to Covid-19 victims'The central government on Sunday has informed the Supreme Court in an affidavit that ex gratia amount of Rs 4 lakhs cannot be paid to the family members of those who died due to Covid-19, citing financial constraints and other factors.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Centre on hearing petitions seeking direction to the concerned authorities to provide ex gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakhs to the family members of those who have succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic, as per the ministry of home affairs (MHA) letter in view of Section 12 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
However, the government made it clear that it had already made payments and a lot of government measures had been introduced for the needy persons.
In its affidavit before the Apex Court, the Centre also submitted that the Central government and all the state governments have spent a huge amount for needy persons to deal with Covid-19 pandemic and their finances are overstretched.
Several states extend Covid curbs, eases certain restrictionsSeveral states and UTs on Sunday decided to extend the Coronavirus-induced curbs as a precautionary move along with easing certain restrictions.
Tamil NaduThe Tamil Nadu government on Sunday extended the lockdown in the state by one more week till Monday, June 28, while permitting some more relaxations.
The state government retained existing restrictions in 11 districts in the west and central region.
In 23 other districts, it has permitted more services and establishments to operate for extended hours.
- Automobile showrooms and service centres can function.
- All state government offices can function with 100% employees.
- Private offices can function with 50% attendance.
- Theatres will be permitted to undertake maintenance work once a week with prior approval.
- Food outlets can function from 6am to 9pm, but only parcel services provided.
- Tea shops can function from 6am to 7pm, but only parcel service is allowed in these four districts.
- Food outlets can offer parcel services from 6am to 9pm.
- State government offices involved in essential services can function with 100% employees.
- Government offices are permitted to function with just 50% employees.
- All private offices will function with 33% employees.
The state government has permitted resumption of public transport, with 50% occupancy and non-AC buses to be operated in four districts in and around Chennai region (Chennai Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet).
People are permitted to travel in taxis and autos without e-registration.
Industries already permitted to function can now operate with 100% employees, while other industries can now resume operations with 33% workers.
Shops selling vessels and opticals, besides photocopy shops and photo studios can function. While, standalone provision, vegetables and fruits shops, besides meat shops can function from 6am to 7pm.
DelhiAs the national capital continues to unlock itself in a 'phased' manner, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Sunday extended relaxations in Covid-19 restrictions in the city till 5am of June 28.
What's allowed: - Public parks, gardens, golf clubs and outdoor yoga activities.
- All markets, market complexes, and malls to open from 10am to 8pm.
- Bars to open with 50% seating capacity from 12pm to 10pm.
- Restaurants to open with 50% seating capacity from 8am to 10pm.
- All standalone (single) shops and all neighbourhood (colony) shops and shops in residential complexes permitted to open on all days from 10am to 8pm.
- Online/ distance learning.

What's prohibited: - All schools, colleges, educational, training and coaching institutions.
- All social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious, festival related and other gatherings and congregations.
- All swimming pools (except being used for training of sport persons for participation in national & international events).
- Stadia, sports complexes (except being used for training of sports persons for participation in national / international sports events as well as for organizing national / international sports events)
- Cinemas, theaters, multiplexes.
- Entertainment parks, amusement parks, water parks.
- Banquet halls, auditoriums, assembly halls.
- Spas, gymnasium and yoga institutes.
UttarakhandThe Uttarakhand government too decided to extend the Covid lockdown in the state for another week from June 22 along with easing certain curbs.
- Hotels, restaurants, and bars can open with 50% of their capacity till 10 pm.
- Bringing a negative RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen test report compulsory for people coming to the state.
- General stores and groceries will now be open for five days in a week closing only on Saturdays and Sundays.
- All government, semi-government and private offices can also open with 50% of their capacity.
- Offices connected with essential services will open with full capacity.
- Chardham yatra for locals to open from July 1 and for people from the rest of the state from July 11.

HaryanaThe Haryana government on Sunday extended the statewide Covid-19 restrictions till June 28, but allowed bars and restaurants to operate till 10 pm.
- Up to 50 guests can now attend weddings and funerals or cremations.
- Corporate offices can now open with full attendance.
- Weddings can now take place in courts, but processions are not allowed.
- Swimming pools and spas in the state would remain closed.
- Club houses, restaurants and bars of golf courses are allowed to open with 50% seating capacity from 10am to 10 pm.
- All shops can continue to operate from 9 am to 8 pm.
- Restaurants and bars, including those in hotels and malls, are allowed to open from 10 am to 10 pm.
- The timings for shopping malls will continue to be from 10 am to 8 pm.
Jammu and KashmirJammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday announced further relaxation of Covid-induced curbs in 8 Jammu and Kashmir districts with improvement in Covid-19 numbers.
The eight districts include Shopian, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Jammu, Reasi, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur.
- Government and private offices can begin functioning without restrictions in these districts.
- Weekend curfews have also been lifted from these districts.
- Only night curfew from 8pm to 7am will remain in place.
- All outdoor shops and trades will be permitted to open on all days from 7am to 7pm.
- 50% of the shops in indoor shopping complexes and malls in these districts can open.
- The opening of the shops will be subject to a roster to be issued by Deputy Commissioners.
SOP for remaining districts: - The weekend curfew will be in place from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 am,
- The daily night curfew will be in place from 8 pm to 7 am.
- All outdoor marketplaces to remain open on five days except Saturday and Sunday.
- 25% shops in indoor shopping complexes and malls can open subject to a roster to be issued by Deputy Commissioners concerned.
