Kolkata: A day after Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Congress won’t give a candidate at Bhawanipur constituency for the bypolls, the Left Front on Sunday said that they are looking for a young face to field in the same constituency.

During a closed door review meeting of the Left Front on their loss in the recently concluded Assembly election, it was decided that they will field a candidate in the Bhawanipore constituency.

According to party sources the senior leaders are looking for a young face to contest from that constituency.

“In the closed door the pros and the cons of inclusion of Indian Secular Front (ISF) was also discussed. Several senior party leaders are of mind that inclusion of ISF had distanced the traditional Left Front from the party,” said the sources.

Later in the evening, releasing a press release, the Left Front claimed that the Sanjyukta Morcha had failed to portray them as the alternative for which the people had voted for Trinamool Congress to counter Bharatiya Janata Party.

Notably, a day before, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Congress had formed with the Left Front and not ISF and also claimed that the Congress’ image got tarnished with the inclusion of ISF.

However, neither the Left Front nor the Congress came up clear about their alliance for the upcoming civic polls in West Bengal.

However, several political analysts are of mind that the crack between the two camps is clear and official announcement of the alliance is just a matter of time.
