Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): ‘Maha Abhiyan’, a mega vaccination campaign against Covid-19 is all set to start across the state on Monday. Around 10 lakh people will be vaccinated at 7000 session sites (vaccination centres) in Madhya Pradesh in a single day.

Around 35,000 staff of the health department will be engaged for vaccination in the campaign. Five staffers of the department will remain present at every session site. Around 19 lakh doses of COVAXIN and COVISHIELD have been made available for the Maha Abhiyan covering the entire state at one go with a target of 10 lakh beneficiaries.

DME Minister Vishwas Sarang informed the media on Sunday evening that distinguished personalities from the fields of sports, film, politics, and academics will motivate people in various districts for the vaccination. Besides, all district in charge ministers will remain present in their respective districts during the campaign, Sarang said.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will kick off a vaccination drive in Datia and administer a pledge in Anna Nagar, Bhopal. Chouhan will then move to Budni, the minister said, adding, “ I will remain present in Bhopal.”

As monitors, Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar will remain present in Morena, Thawar Chand Gehlot in Nagda, BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya in Indore and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia in Gwalior.

State water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat will encourage people to get vaccinated in Indore, while transport minister Govind Singh Rajput will motivate people in Surkhi (Sagar), minister for urban administration Bhupendra Singh in Sehore, health minister Prabhuram Chaudhary in Raisen and Vidisha, minister for higher education Mohan Yadav in Ujjain and Minister of State for School Education Inder Singh Parmar in Shujalpur.

1.5 lakh to get jabs in Bhopal

Around 1.5 lakh people are expected to get vaccinated in Bhopal on Monday, while Indore has a target of 1.8 lakh. Similarly, Gwalior and Jabalpur will have 60,000 vaccination each. Total 4.5 lakh vaccination will be at four major cities--Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Indore. CMHO (Bhopal) Dr Prabhkar Tiwari said, “Bhopal has a target of vaccinating 1.5 lakh people on the day. We have over 2 lakh doses of vaccine”. Asha workers' proposed strike will not have any adverse impact on the mega vaccination campaign, assured the CHMO.
