NBA Draft: The Oklahoma City Thunder recently acquired Kemba Walker from the Boston Celtics.
Last season, they traded George Hill (to Philadelphia in a three-team deal involving the Knicks), Trevor Ariza (to Miami), and Hamidou Diallo (to Detroit) in exchange for four players, four second-round draft picks, and two trade exceptions.
Of the four players they acquired, the Thunder waived two, making the draft capital and trade exceptions they received their biggest returns at the deadline.
Since the 2019 offseason, when they traded away two All-Stars in Paul George (LA Clippers) and Russell Westbrook (Houston Rockets), the Thunder have been in the business of acquiring as many future draft picks as possible.
It sets them up for another strong rebuild, similar to the one they achieved in the late 2000s when they drafted Kevin Durant (2007), Westbrook (2008), Serge Ibaka (2008), and James Harden (2009) in successive years
With that in mind, here’s how many future draft picks the Thunder control following this season’s trade deadline, which totals to just over 34 over the next seven years.
