Gurgaon: The municipal corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has identified 80 areas prone to waterlogging across the city and constituted
teams for each of the sites.
Each team comprises six members, including an executive engineer, an assistant engineer, junior engineer and three officers of the sanitation wing.
According to officials, the chief engineer of MCG will coordinate with other government agencies, including the district administration, Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and others, and look for steps that can be taken to address the issues.
Around 80 sites have been identified by the civic body, including DLF-1 underpass on Golf Course Road, IT Chowk on Golf Course Road, and Rajiv Chowk underpass.
“Now that duties have been assigned to the officials to clear theses areas, the MCG commissioner will begin checks to see how the work is progressing. From next week, he will visit the sites and see whether manpower and machinery has been deployed to solve the problem,” said a senior MCG official privy to the matter.
In an order, MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja said that waterlogging in different parts of the city causes inconvenience to the general public and damages public property as well.
“All joint commissioners shall monitor and supervise the working of the staffers and ensure that all arrangements are put in order in time. Required staff and machinery is deployed at the identified and earmarked sites which are prone to waterlogging,” said the order issued on Thursday.
“They shall give immediate and effective response if any waterlogging is reported/occurs within their area of administration. Superintending engineer Ramesh Sharma, will be the nodal officer for the implementation of these orders. He will ensure that the required staff and pumps for de-watering are deployed at the identified and earmarked sites which are prone to waterlogging,” the order states.
