Helping labour class families of RGU Containment Zone

Rajiv Gandhi University Teachers’ Association [RGUTA] extended helping hands to the labour class families of the RGU Micro Containment Zone [MCZ]
Rajiv Gandhi University Teachers’ Association launched a donation drive for providing relief to one hundred ten [110] labour class families residing in the RGU Micro Containment Zone [MCZ]. RGUTA generated over one lakh sixty thousand rupees under the weeklong donation drive led by the former President, Prof. Jumyir Basar and incumbent President, Dr. Daniel Mize.
The labour colony located around F Sector was declared as Micro Containment Zone [MCZ] by the Arunachal Pradesh State Administration when around 30 COVID-19 positive cases were identified through mass RAT Testing in the campus conducted by the State Health Administration. It has been reported that currently there have been around 40 COVID-19 positive cases in the RGU campus.
Therefore, RGUTA taking care of the weaker sections living in the MCZ has initiated campaign for the wellbeing of the socially and economically weaker families living the COVID-19 affected area. Almost entire university teaching community contributed wholeheartedly under this weeklong donation drive for good cause. Food stuffs including rice, egg, etc. and cleanliness materials amounting to around one lakh rupees were distributed amongst 110 labour class families of the RGU MCZ by the RGUTA EC members with the help of RGU COVID-19 Task Force led by Prof. Sumpam Thangjang, on 17th June 2021.
Over sixty thousand rupees generated through this donation drive led by RGUTA have been reserved and kept aside for providing relief to such economically weaker families residing in RGU in case COVID-19 cases emerge further in the varsity campus.
Thus, RGUTA has strongly manifested its commitment to the social wellbeing though its humanitarian approach by continuing social service series apart from various initiatives taken by the association in the general interest of faculty members from time to time. The credit for the success of this COVID-19 relief campaign goes to every RGUTA member, especially entire RGUTA Executive Body.
