CHANDIGARH: Premier medical institute PGI will resume walk-in OPDs shut since April 9 soon. The decision will be taken on Saturday after the director meets the heads of departments. Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, will resume elective surgeries from Monday. It has not taken a call on OPDs yet.
“We have been seeing an increase in non-Covid patients in the emergency and even in OPDs being run using telemedicine,” said Prof Jagat Ram, director, PGI. He said, “We shall be meeting on Saturday to take a final call.”
The Sector 32 hospital will start elective surgeries (nonemergency) for those on waiting list or assessed for them during the telemedicine consultation. “We are not resuming walk-in OPDs, but have extended teleconsultation timings until 4pm from 9am. Elective surgeries will start from Monday,” said Dr Jasbinder Kaur, director-principal, GMCH.
