Mumbai/ Bengaluru, Jun19(UNI) NCP state president and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil on Saturday called on Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa to discuss Krishna and Bhima flood-related issues.
According to official press statement stated that during the meeting, Mr Patil said that discussions were held on how to control floods in Krishna and Bhima rivers in the coming time and how the two states should coordinate in this regard.
Considering the floods of 2019, last year, Mr Patil had made a correct plan for the floods.
He is trying his best to prevent floods in western Maharashtra this year as well. Today's visit is also believed to be part of flood control planning.
Maharashtra has set up a real time data acquisition system but the Karnataka government has not yet set up such a system.
If this system is set up in Karnataka, it will be possible to dynamically control the combined Almatti level and the overall incoming Almatti dam and the oncoming flow and the rains falling in Maharashtra.
Mr Patil clarified that there was a discussion that good control can be maintained.
Meanwhile, Mr Patil also expressed confidence that today's meeting would be useful for coordination between the two states, he added.
