No death at Kamjong in second wave so far: MLA

Phungyar AC MLA K Leishiyo has categorically stated that no Covid death has been reported from Kamjong district so far in the second wave.
K Leishiyo is also the Chairman of the Hill Area Committee.
In a telephonic conversation with this reporter, the MLA stated that utmost precaution is the key that keeps the people of Kamjong district safe from the second wave of Covid pandemic with no death so far.
About 3-4 people from the district died of COVID-19, however, they were said to be residing in Imphal, he added.
Stating not a single Covid death is being reported from Kamjong due to strict conformation of Covid-appropriate behaviour, K Leisiyo apprised that 432 people from Kamjong have been tested positive for COVID-19 as of Thursday (June 17).The number of active cases, however, is considerably low, he added.
Further stating that healthcare facilities for the district are available at Community Health Centre Kamjong; Primary Health Centre Phungyar and Primary Health Centre Kasom Khullen, the MLA continued that majority of the Covid patients from the district, however, recovered at home without ever reaching CHC or PHC.
He also said that over 100 medical oxygen cylinders have been procured for the district.
Of the 100 filled oxygen cylinders, 20 cylinders and three oxygen concentrators have been handed over to the MO-in-charge of a Covid Care Centre set up at PHC Phungyar, the MLA said and added that not a single Covid patient is lodged at Phungyar PHC.
The oxygen concentrators and cylinders were given to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen at the time of emergency, the MLA narrated.
