GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has set a target of planting three lakh saplings during this year’s monsoon. The plantation drive will focus on the areas newly-added to the MCG limits.
MCG officials said that out of three lakh plants, one lakh are shrubs and two lakhs are other saplings. “The sites have been identified for plantation during the monsoon. These sites include the newly-added MCG areas in the new sectors, community centres, parks, crematoriums, green belts etc.,” said divisional forest officer (DFO) Subhash Yadav, who now also holds the charge of nodal officer of the environment and sustainability wing, MCG. Last year too, the MCG had conducted the plantation drive and the civic body could plant over one lakh saplings across the city in monsoons.
