Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to the Chief Secretaries of states that a decision to impose or ease the restrictions has to be taken based on the assessment of the situation at ground level.

He asked to ensure that the whole process is carefully calibrated. He also asked to ensure adequate testing due to the dynamic situation of corona virus.

Mr. Bhalla has advised the States and UTs to keep a close watch on early signs of a surge in active cases or high positivity rates.

He suggested maintaining a system so that rise in cases can be contained at micro level through local containment measures.
