NOIDA: The police team investigating the
theft of 40kg
gold and Rs 6.5 crore is planning to issue lookout notices against Rammani Panday and his
son Kislay, from whose flat the valuables were stolen. The cops suspect the money and jewellery — much of which has been recovered with the arrest of 10 suspected thieves — is unaccounted for.
Rammani’s name has been mentioned in the FIR that has been lodged under IPC Section 414 (whoever voluntarily assists in concealing or disposing of or making away with property which he knows or has reason to believe to be stolen property) against the 10 persons. Preliminary investigation has found that the Greater Noida flat where the theft took place had been taken on rent by an aide of the father-son duo, Krishna Murari Singh.
A senior police officer said they were in the process of recommending a lookout notice against Rammani and Kislay. "We are in the process of getting a lookout notice issued through a court. Since their names have come up during the investigation and it is likely they are hiding abroad, we are seeking legal opinion on how to go ahead," the officer said.
Police confirmed that Kislay already has a red corner notice issued against his name at the behest of Gurgaon police in connection with the Indiabulls case.
Additional commissioner of police (law and order) Love Kumar said while the father-son duo had not come forward with any explanation so far, preliminary investigation had confirmed that the wealth is unaccounted for and belonged to them. "If they are not coming forward, we will proceed with the investigation," he said.
