PM Modi launches customised crash course to upskill over one lakh 'Covid warriors'

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched six customized crash course programmes to up skill over one lakh 'Covid warriors'.
According to the Prime Minister's office, under the customized crash course programme, the government will start 111 training centres spread over 26 states.
"The virus is still present among us and it can mutate further," PM Modi warned while launching the programme through video conferencing under the Skill India scheme.
"In the second wave of coronavirus, we saw what kind of challenges the ever-changing form of this virus can bring before us," Modi said. "We have to further enhance the preparedness of the country to meet the challenges ahead," Modi asserted.
PM Modi said the government is working on a war-footing to install over 1,500 oxygen plants across the country. The effort is on to reach every district, he added.
On vaccination, the PM said that government is committed to providing Covid vaccines for free to everyone.
Union minister of skill development and entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also present on the occasion.
The training will be imparted to 'Covid warriors' in six customised job roles namely home care support, basic care support, advanced care support, emergency care support, sample collection support, and medical equipment support.
The programme has been designed as a special programme under the central component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0, with total financial outlay of Rs. 276 crore, the PMO said.
The programme will create skilled non-medical healthcare workers to fill the present and future needs of manpower in the health sector.
