ALTON warn against proposed excise tax on airtime

The Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), has warned against the new plan to introduce excise duty on telecoms airtime charges, arguing that it will lead to double taxation. ALTON was reacting to reports that the government was considering the tax on telecoms airtime charges as a way to boost revenue.
