Japanese sports clothing firm Descente posts FY20 sales of ¥97 bn

Descente Ltd, a Japanese sports clothing and accessories company, has reported 22.2 per cent sales decline to ¥96.8 billion (Japanese Yen) in its fiscal 2020 ended on March 31, 2021, compared to the sales of ¥124.5 billion in the previous fiscal. However, the company’s operating income for the year jumped to ¥1.8 billion (FY19: ¥379 million).
 
Ordinary income for FY20 rose to ¥584 million (¥456 million), whereas profit attributable to the owners of parent increased to ¥5.0 billion (¥2.4 billion).
 
Sales of Descente brand slipped to ¥41.5 billion (¥51.8 billion), while Le coq sportif sales dropped to ¥26.9 billion ($34.2 billion) during FY20. Sales of other brand too declined during the year: Munsingwear ¥9.4 billion (¥11.4 billion), Arena ¥4.2 billion (6.7 billion), Umbro ¥7.0 billion (¥7.3 billion), and others ¥7.7 billion (¥12.8 billion).
 
Regionally, sales in Japan plunged to ¥44.1 billion (¥54.1 billion), while sales in South Korea decreased to ¥44.5 billion (¥57.9 billion). Sales in China for FY20 were ¥6.3 billion (¥7.1 billion).
