BHOPAL: The Bhopal policeís cyber cell has arrested three men from Haryana and Rajasthan who were involved in ìsextortion racketî. The accused have been identified as Waseem, a resident of Haryana, Purushottam and Yadaram, both from Rajasthan, the cyber cell told media on Friday.
The cops have also found a record of Rs 60 lakh transaction from their bank accounts.
The action was taken on complaint filed by a local resident. The police now claim that accused have extorted money from more than 120 people. Their activities went unchecked for over a year as sextortion victims refrain from informing the police.
The accused would lure victims using images of girls and would initiate sex chat with them. The accused tactfully show them the girl removing her clothes and ask the victims to strip.
They save the videos and later use the clips to blackmail the victims and demand anything above Rs 10,000, said police.
A Bhopal based complainant had informed police that he had deposited money into the account given by accused but they were demanding extra money.
Police when investigated the case they traced the accused to Haryana and Rajasthan. Police said the accused have extorted money from victims in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Haryana.
The team found transaction record of over Rs 60,lakh and they are now searching for the other victims.

Cyber cell DSP Neetu Thakur said they have seized their mobile phones and laptops. Their bank accounts in SBI Airtel Payment Bank, PNB, BOB and HDFC banks.
She said these records suggest they have duped over 120 persons in a year but the figure may be higher than this and we want the complainants to come forward, as their identity will not be revealed.
