Proteas Test captain Dean Elgar has lost his second consecutive toss and will have to bat first in the second Test against the West Indies at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia.

The Proteas lead the two-match Test series 1-0 following their an innings and 63 runs victory in the opening Test.

Temba Bavuma's injury woes have continued unabated, with a finger injury sustained during a fielding drill on Wednesday ruling him out of this week's Test.

He missed the first Test due to a hip injury that allowed Kyle Verreynne to make his Test debut.

That means the Proteas remain unchanged for the second Test while the West Indies made one change in Shannon Gabriel replacing Rahkeem Cornwall.

Kieran Powell, who came in as a concussion substitute for Nkrumah Bonner in the first Test, retained his place.

Rain delayed the start of play with the first ball scheduled to be bowled at 16:15 SA time.

Teams:

West Indies

Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Kieran Powell, Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Jason Holder, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shannon Gabriel

South Africa

Dean Elgar (c), Aiden Markram, Keegan Petersen, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, Quinton de Kock (wk), Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje
