French regulator asks Orange to pay more for sub-contracting work on overhead poles

France's telecom authority Arcep has published details of a ruling resolving a dispute between Orange and Altitude Infra, which reviews upwards the price paid by Orange for the renovation of overhead poles carried out as part of FTTP roll-outs. Altitude Infra requested Arcep's intervention to demand a remuneration of EUR 430 on each overhead pole requiring renovation for use in a new network. This comes under rules giving operators access to Orange civil engineering infrastructure for optical local loop deployments. If an overhead pole is unable to withstand the load of a new network,
