The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has developed the assessment policy for class 12 Indian School Certificate (ISC) students. The examinations were cancelled this year due to the second devastating wave of Covid-19. The result will be declared by July 31, the CISCE told the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Though affiliated schools have still not received an official circular, the policy has been submitted in the SC by the Council. It states that class 12 ISC students will be marked based on their performance in class 10 board exams, project and practical work in various subjects, along with best marks scored in classes 11 and 12.

The CISCE said, “For rationalisation of marks awarded by individual schools, the historical performance of the past six years will be taken into account.”

The principal of a South Mumbai school said, “We have not received any notification or circular yet from the CISCE explaining the assessment policy for class 12 students. We need to know the percentage breakup for calculating marks based on the performance of students in the past three years.”

On Thursday, the SC had approved the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) 30:30:40 percentage breakup marking policy for class 12 students.
