Television actress Tina Datta, who recently became a victim of online trolling after she posted a series of topless photos, has said that if the so-called online trolls cross their limit, she is not someone to hold back.
In an exclusive interaction with the Free Press Journal, Tina said that she prefers giving it back to them in their own style to teach them a lesson.
"That is exactly what they deserve! However, if the situation is manageable, I prefer ignoring the trolls because eventually, silence is the best answer to shutting people up," she said.
The actress became a household name after starring in the popular show 'Uttaran'. She believes that the internet today has become a no-face space for anybody and everybody to go around saying what they want.
"This is because there is nobody to put a face to a name or physically go and pull them up and that's exactly what is taken advantage of on social media platforms," she said.
Tina is also quite appalled to see children abusing on social media. "It's honestly sad to see kids and teenagers using social media for all the wrong reasons when ideally it can be majorly beneficial to them in so many ways. I just hope that in time to come, these kids understand their wrongdoings and utilize the medium for a lot more positive outcomes," she said.
When asked if the trolling affects her, Tina said that at times, it does.
"At times it does to a certain extent when people think it's okay to stoop to any level just because social media is a free world, but on most of the days, I just remind myself that they are the ones filled with extreme toxicity and negativity to even be thinking and speaking like this. So it is them who I eventually feel bad for," Tina stated.
Earlier this month, the actress left her fans and followers in awe of her beauty as she went topless for the photoshoot. In the stunning pictures, Tina was seen wearing just a high-waist bikini bottom. She turned her back towards the camera while striking a pose.
However, hours after she posted the pictures, a user abused her and passed indecent remarks in the comments section. The trolling got so heavy that she had to disable her comments.
Tina then posted screenshots of the user's comments on her Instagram stories and questioned his upbringing.
"I did get back at him and put him in the spot so others are also aware of his tactics. As I mentioned, such people need to be pulled up for their misbehavior so they know it's not okay to behave like this with not only me but anyone at all," Tina told the Free Press Journal.
On the professional front, Tina was last seen in the web series 'Naxalbari' which also starred Rajeev Khandelwal and Sreejita De in lead roles.
Tina, who is one of the well-known television personalities, has worked in shows like 'Karmaphal Daata Shani', 'Koi Aane Ko Hai', and 'Daayan'. She has also appeared in reality shows including 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7', 'Comedy Circus' and 'Khatron Ke Khiladi.'
