Behaviour towards used cars is changing in
urban India post-pandemic, according to a report of Spinny - a full-stack used car retailing
platform. These days it is observed that buyers feel content with e-tailer’s
online showroom. They can read about
verified details of the cars, compare and match different offerings, and also
choose the one of which they want to try the test drive. The confident
behaviour of the buyers is also contributed to the fact that car retailers are
ready to address the factors that are responsible for breaching the trust gap
between the industry and prospective customers. These factors can be detailed
inspection reports, 360-degree view of cars, fixed prices, and verified
ownership history.
Spinny has
vouched for this change in the behaviour of the buyers. In cities like
Bengaluru, Spinny has recorded conversions about online sales and home
deliveries. An IT engineer based in California bought a car online without even
a test drive for his aged parents. A Pune-based customer seemed disappointed
with the city’s local dealership experience.
According to
Niraj Singh, Founder, Spinny, the company has a limited but finely-tuned
catalogue. The company is known for its quality; hence, the customers can bank
upon the cars purchased online. The customers are also offered a well-rounded
ownership experience. The people, who browse for a used car online, get
converted into actual customers because Spinny offers assured buyback within 6
months, five-day money-back guarantee, a very favourable up-gradation policy, and
a 1-year warranty complimentary year-long insurance.
More than 1200
cars have been sold by the company in around 14 cities from the beginning of
this year and around 80% of the transactions were based on online research. In
Bengaluru alone, the same number is more than 90%. Also, 20% of women prefer used-car platforms like Spinny.
