Despite memorably playing a phone sex aficionado on “Sex and the City,” actor Josh Hamilton joked he wouldn’t be good at the dirty talk in real life.

“I get nervous, I like to have my lines written for me,” Hamilton told Page Six at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday.

The 52-year-old “False Positive” star added that he’s not good at improving.

“If I could work off a script I could probably get into it,” he quipped. “I’d have to have some good writers.”

Hamilton appeared on a 2000 episode of the hit HBO series and played a man having a long-distance phone sex relationship with Miranda, until she discovered she wasn’t the only woman having sexy phone chats with him.

Currently, Hamilton plays Ilana Glazer’s boss in the upcoming Hulu thriller “False Positive,” which follows a woman and her partner undergoing nightmarish IVF treatments.

“[I play] an OK guy, except I might be a little unintentionally condescending, or the kind of guy who thinks he’s a good guy,” he told us, before adding that in real life he wouldn’t dare mansplain to his wife Lily Thorne, with whom he’s been married for 16 years.

“No, my wife explains everything to me,” he said.

Meanwhile, the “13 Reasons Why” star opened up about his life during the coronavirus pandemic, admitting that he went stir crazy in his New York City apartment.

“I got in a bad habit of staying up till 4 [a.m.] every morning and watching TV,” he said. “It was funny I couldn’t watch anything new, I could only watch black and white movies. Anything from this era made me too anxious. I had to be in a completely different era, I found it was the only thing that gave me comfort.”
