Notably, Wimbledon will start on June 28 while the Tokyo Olympics is set to begin on July 23.
Wimbledon: Nadal had last featured in the semifinals of the French Open where he lost to World No.1 Novak Djokovic in four sets. He had lost for the first time in the semifinals of the clay-court grand slam tournament.
The absence of Rafa Nadal from Wimbledon will open chance for Djokovic to clinch his record equal 20th grand slam while Swiss Tennis Maestro Roger Federer will look to win record 21st Grand Slam and overtake Nadal.
The development means Nadal will get plenty of time to make his comeback in the US Open.
