Shanghai (China)
Terex Materials
Processing has purchased a new facility located in Shanghai, China, which will
be used to manufacture Powerscreen equipment for the domestic Chinese market. According
to Kieran Hegarty, President, Terex Materials Processing, Powerscreen’s growth
story will have a new chapter now with the investment by Terex to continue
manufacturing in China locally. He also said that this demonstrates long-term
commitment with the country and will offer significant economic benefits t the
local area. He also said that this expansion will not impact Powerscreen’s
production capacity at its other Terex facilities.
In 2016, Powerscreen entered China as a
reaction to government investment in infrastructure and also supported the use
of recycled materials. Ever since, the company has shown a great presence
through its sales, building its distribution network, hosting customers through
open days, and attending industry exhibitions in the country.
As a part of the plan, a team will be assigned
from Northern Ireland to monitor the scale-up of production in China. The team
will also ensure that the processes follow the same robust standard of
Powerscreen’s manufacturing centre of excellence in the home land. The onsite
Chinese team is under training and it is expected that the first machine that
is locally produced will be out by the end of this year.
Hegarty concluded by saying that the role
of Mobile crushing and screening equipment in the
sustainable building of infrastructure is basic but is vital. He also said that
this association will boost commercial ventures in China. The right equipment
will be launched with the Powerscreen name, designed by the local team, and
sold through an elaborate network.
