Skoda Kushaq India Launch On June 28: Bookings, Delivery Timeline & Other Details
The Skoda Kushaq will launch on June 28 in India at 11:00 a.m. Zac Hollis, Director of Sales, Service & Marketing, Skoda India, revealed the launch details of the SUV via Twitter.
Bookings for the Kushaq will open at the time of launch was also confirmed via the tweet. The deliveries will begin from July 2021.
Expected Pricing
The Skoda Kushaq will be the first model under the brand's India 2.0 strategy. The new mid-size SUV will be Made-in-India which will help the brand to price it aggressively. Prices for the Kusaq are expected to start at around Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
Vehicle Platform
The Skoda Kushaq uses a modified version of the brand's globally renowned MQB platform. The modified MQB A0 IN platform features a longer wheelbase than its global counterpart to suit Indian buyers.
Exterior Design
The company has already unveiled the Kushaq ahead of its launch. The upcoming SUV will feature a rugged design with all-around body cladding. At the front, is the brand's signature butterfly grille flanked on either side by sleek headlamps.
From the rear, the SUV features a split-style LED taillamp, large SKODA lettering spread across the boot lid and a faux skid plate at either end. Other exterior features include roof rails with a blacked-out roof and chunky looking alloy wheels.
Interiors & Features
The Kusaq feature a large touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system will support wireless smartphone connectivity such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another standout feature will be a TFT display for the instrument cluster featuring the brand's virtual cockpit design.
Other interior features include automatic climate control, rear ac vents, electric sunroof, a multifunction steering wheel with mounted control, cruise control, power-operated seats; among others.
Engine & Transmission Options
The Skoda Kushaq is expected to be offered in two engine and transmission options. This includes the lower-spec 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI producing 108bhp at 5500rpm, and a peak torque of 175Nm at 1750rpm mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter unit.
The SUV will also be offered with the top-spec 1.5-litre engine TSI four-cylinder engine that churns out 150bhp and 250Nm of torque; mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic as standard.
Thoughts About The Skoda Kushaq India Launch On June 28
The Skoda Kushaq was expected to arrive earlier this year. However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic delayed the launch by a couple of months. Once launched, the Skoda Kusaq will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun in India.
