Monsoon watch: Jharkhand continues to get rainfall, more than 81 pc rains in June so far

Ranchi, Jun 17 (UNI) Monsoon continues to drench the state as not only the capital but also the other districts are receiving good rainfall.
On Thursday also dense cloud cover was reported in the capital and it kept raining at regular intervals. The weather department has predicted for heavy rainfall in Koderma, Chatra, Garhwa, Dhanbad, Saraikela, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Simdega.
An orange alert has been sounded for these districts during which wind speed 30-40 kilometres has been also predicted. The Weather Station has said that normal Monsoon activity is happening in the state due to which every district is receiving rainfall. Moreover, low pressure is built over the Gangetic plains and bordering areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh and its impact is also being seen in the state.
The weather department said that between June 1-15 the state receives an average rainfall of 71.4 mm which this year has been recorded at 129 mm which was 81 per cent more. During this period Jamtara district has received maximum rainfall at 227 mm.
On the other hand, Ranchi has so far received 158.9 mm of rainfall which had more than doubled against the average annual rainfall of 73.3 mm during this period. Palamu too has received surplus rainfall at 244.8 mm. The quota of rainfall for the entire month of June in the districts of Dhanbad and Jamshedpur has been also completed in just 15 days.

Due to the downpour the rivers have reached or are hovering around the danger mark in the state and in many low laying areas water has entered the homes of the people. Water level in all the dams and reservoirs of the state has substantially increased due to the rainfall.
