Spotify has launched Greenroom, a new Clubhouse-like audio chatroom for you to discuss music, sports, culture, and just everything from gaming to lifestyle.

Spotify in its announcement mentions that it marked the addition of live audio as part of the Spotify ecosystem the day it acquired Betty Labs, the creators of Locker Room in March. Spotify is now relaunching the Locker Room app under its own brand by a new name and new features as well. Now, if you visit the bettylabs.io website, you will see a message on the home page stating “Betty Labs is joining Spotify,” with a link “Join Locker Room,” clicking upon which will navigate you directly to the Spotify Greenroom page.

Spotify Greenroom joins the bandwagon of a growing number of audio chat platforms. And, just like the disrupter Clubhouse, the Greenroom lets you host rooms, listen to your favorite artists, be a member of clubs, and more. Also, you can use the “hand” icon to raise your hand in case you want to be a speaker in a room. You can invite anyone in the room and enjoy the live audio sessions together. You can also share the link of the ongoing live audio session with others via WhatsApp or other messaging services.

Once your profile is created, you will see the homepage filled with the ongoing live audio chats, based on the interests you selected while signing up. You can also use the Calendar icon provided on the top right corner to see upcoming rooms and set a reminder.

However, unlike Clubhouse, there is also an option to get the recordings of the room. While creating a room, you will see an option "Get room recording."

If you switch on the toggle, Spotify will email you a copy of that recording once the session is over. This means only the creator has an access to that recording.

Also, there is a chat session as well which can be enabled while creating a room.

Spotify is launching in over 135 markets globally. It is available on iOS and Android devices.
