Dow slumps, Nasdaq ends near record as investors digest Fed policy outlook

Stocks posted a mixed finish Thursday as investors continued to digest the previous day's change in the Fed's outlook for interest rates and inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.62% fell around 210 points, or 0.6%, to finish near 33,824, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.04% closed around 2 points lower, a fall of less than 0.1%, near 4,222. The Nasdaq Composite ended with a gain of around 122 points, up 0.9%, near 14,161, after trading above Monday's record close at 14,174.14.
