CHENNAI: The registration department has set up a grievance control room. It has announced three helplines for the public to complain about registration officials and issues over registrations through voice calls and WhatsApp.
According to an official press release, people can complain to the state registration department's grievance control room through helpline numbers 9498452110, 9498452120 and 9498452130 during the office working hours.
Minister for commercial taxes and registration P Moorthy, who conducted a review of the registration department on Wednesday, said action would be taken on the complaints at the earliest.
He emphasised that registration officials should be transparent. They should clarify all the doubts of the public visiting for registrations, he added.
Pointing out that the statewide average returning of documents on the day of registration was 83%, it was low in five zones including Chennai. Steps must be initiated to return the documents on the same day of registration, the minister added.
